Latest Exciting News!
My Kitty Couture piece for the Salamanca Art Centre Resident art exhibition 2026 has left the building. Thanks to everyone who came and visited and for all the great feedback. The piece opened people's eyes to how we have manipulated cat breeds - yes there really are over 130 different breeds!
Dark Mofo, Hobart's winter festival has come and gone also. The black and red Little Cockies flew in and have now flown out! Keep an eye out for them again next Dark Mofo. You can find them in one of the most wonderful shops in the world - SpaceBar Gallery, Salamanca, Hobart.
Catworld, the comic style picture book about giant cats I am working on is also progressing.
Very exciting news - I got offered a place in the 2026 Children's Writers and Illustrators Residency at the Nan Tien Temple - WOW!
Can't wait to be involved and meet other writers and illustrators and be amongst the monks and the temple grounds. Whisk and Cat are coming with me and we are going to create even more Catworld.
This will be my second residency. My first was in the late 1990s at Tangaloom Wild Dolphin Resort in Queensland.
I am also preparing for my solo exhibition in late October- Catworld comes to Hobart! There will be a 8ft tall cat as part of the exhibition and celebration of some of Hobart's most beautiful buildings. Behind the scenes of creating the Catworld picture book will also be part of the installation.
Last month I also got to participate in the ANJA Nature Journaling retreat. It was a lovely break away from things to get out in nature and do some journalling. I also taught some classes on drawing leaves and flowers.
It sure has been busy- but also some really great memories and times being with fellow artists, writers and nature journalists.
Keep checking back here for updates.
Until then happy drawing!
